Here are some more RELEVANT stats:

15-20 percent of people with untreated Major Depression commit suicide. That equals 15,000 to 20,000 per 100,000.

Antidepressant medications, such as SSRI's are usually prescribed as treatment for Major Depression. YOU said that 718 out of 100,000 people on such medication commit suicide.

Based on those figures, antidepressant medications DECREASE the suicide risk by 96-97%.
