US Sport, a whey protein distributor, is sponsoring charity NBA Exhibition games in China with retired NBA legends. They will be playing against local Chinese teams, and the proceeds are going to victims of natural disasters. They are working closely with the China Red Cross, who is picky about who they work with.
The CEO, York Galland, also donated a bunch of NBA related items to be auctioned to raise more money for charity. US Sport has come out with a press release that you can find at their website https://www.us-sport.com/news. Here's the main part of the press release: "Today, US Sport is excited to announce a joint-venture with the China Red Cross. US Sport, in partnership with the China Red Cross (CRC), will bring former NBA Legends to mainland China in the first ever of its kind co-sponsored charity basketball event. "This is a significant milestone for US Sport who has developed distribution partnerships in China for its whey protein supplement drinks. US Sport is a sports nutriceutical and sports marketing company with partner offices in Beijing and Shanghais, China. US Sport products are sold in Tesco stores and other retailers. US Sport’s protein products are endorsed by Tracy McGrady (T-MAC) of the Houston Rockets, Joe Johnson and Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks. "Dennis Scott, former NBA standout with the Orlando Magic and 3pt record holder, and one of the founding members, just recently returned from formal negotiations with the China Red Cross. In speaking about the upcoming events, Mr. Scott said; 'I am very excited to be working with the China Red Cross. The United States and China share the same love for the game of basketball. After meeting and working with the people of China, it obvious that we have a lot in common. The Chinese people are family oriented, love sports, and have a great sense of humor. I am confident that our partnership will bring much needed assistance to victims of natural disasters, families, children and the great people of China!' "York Galland, US Sport CEO, signed a formal partnership agreement with China Red Cross and presented a 'generous' donation of products and authentic signed basketballs, hats and jersey’s to be auctioned by the CRC for charitable contributions. In Beijing at the CRC Opera Charity Event, York Galland and Dennis Scott, each gave a short speech expressing their excitement and gratitude in working with the CRC to co-host the summer exhibition games. Charlie Zhao, US Sport’s China President and Allen Tian, US Sport’s President of Asia-Pacific, have been working with the CRC and other major Chinese and International Corporations, to participate and co-sponsor these events. "US Sport has assembled a team of former NBA Players who will participate in several exhibition games in different cities throughout China.
