FALLOUT FROM THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that we have recovered (hopefully) from this early-season loss, I hope this becomes a lesson to this team that the first three games prior to Ohio State and Syracuse was no flash in the pan. They almost blew the OSU game, but Syracuse got to them, because of too many missed shots from inside, and way too many turnovers. And that's always gonna cost them no matter what sport. What I do find disturbing is that Syracuse two weeks ago lost to their neighbors five miles down the road, LeMoyne College, in a preseason game on their home floor. Given that circumstance, North Carolina has got a lot of work to do. Next week they got Gardner Webb and then Nevada at our house, before they really find out what they're made of this year--Michigan State, at Kentucky, Presbytarian, at Texas. The Presb. game is obviously a NO EXCUSE game. It's those other three that will make or break our title defense.

Now it's time to get serious, because after Presbytarian and Gardner-Webb, the potential for another loss will come at the hands of Michigan State, Kentucky or Texas. There's another game before the Texas game though. Let's remember that the team RW has out there in inheriting a championship, and they played tonight like they're giving it away. Turnovers are gonna be a factor in this season, and if they wanna defend that title they just inherited, they gotta do better than what I saw tonight. If you can't defend the GODDAMN three, take care of the DAMN ball, or hit the GODDAMN FT's, you're not gonna be able to DO THE DAMN THING yourselves. Let this game be a lesson to them.

Syracuse's zone defense was killing NC all night long. See, this is what happens when you don't take care of the ball like you should. This game just set us back all the way to the first game against FIU, where they had 26 turnovers. They were blitzed by a 25-3 run to start the second half. They were 0-13 from the field to start the half, before finally waking the hell up. Also, hitting the damn FT's and defending the three is gonna be a BIOTCH this season as well as it showed tonight. Let's not excuse the face that Syracuse was playing in their home state; but NC got an ass-cutting that should teach them a lesson about taking care of the GODDAMN ball.
#24 Syracuse vs #4 North Carolina. Watch Syracuse and that patented zone defense, North Carolina must break through it, and contain that three-point shooting. And after what almost happened last night, NC must be CONSISTENT on their defense and hit the FT's down the stretch, because I don't wanna hear nothing from that jackass @#$% dp1, who's been playing teams from the deaf, dumb and blind. This is gonna be an interesting game.

Tonight, NC plays Syracuse at 7:00PM; and after what ALMOST happened last night, Roy Williams needs to light a fire with this team. There's NO EXCUSE for nearly blowing a 19-point lead with ten minutes to go. That lead was cut all the way down to two. That says one thing, NC showed a lack of intensity. HIT THE DAMN FT'S, take care of the DAMN ball, and stop turning the ball over. Plus, defend the three; Ohio State started hitting from behind the arc in the second half. Turnovers are gonna be a problem with this team all season. They cannot play like that in the second half and expect to win the games. So tonight, guys like Graves, Drew and Thompson have to dominate and stay CONSISTENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If they wanna defend that title for the boys that left, they got to play 40 minutes of basketball--NOT 30 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Roy Williams damn well better get on this team IMMEDIATELY after the game. They had a 55-36 lead with 10:02 left in the game and their sloppy second half play, including turnovers and missed FT's, and three point shots put Ohio State to within a bucket. Now I know that this is a relatively new squad trying to defend the title; but that doesn't excuse the comeback Ohio State put on at the end. This was a sloppy second half, so sloppy in the last ten minutes that Ohio State made a furious comeback. Now I'm not gonna come on this damn board this year and have to rant about blown leads like I did before. I don't wanna start doing that now. It's too early for it; but tomorrow, North Carolina better play solid against Syracuse, because another unimpressive performance like this, and RW will probably make them run laps around the GODDAMN Dean Dome.

I was impressed with North Carolina dominating the boards, but the turnovers are gonna be a dilemma because they are not taking care of the ball. I like how they're spreading the wealth--9 players scoring in the half. In the second half, they gotta defend the boards, and again dominate the paint area.

After #1 Kansas and #2 Michigan State had near misses on Tuesday, it's #6 North Carolina's turn. They didn't look good at all against Valpo, although there are four new starters on the court, but tonight in NY the intensity has to pick up against #15 Ohio State. I wanna see what Tyler Zeller and Deon Thompson is gonna do tonight for really the first time. Larry Drew II has to be hot from the outside, and the defense has to do better than what I read about on Sunday. We had two near misses on Tuesday, and they might as well be ready, because they got Cal or Syracuse tomorrow, and then down the road we will see if this team has the potential to repeat with Michigan State, Kentucky and Texas down the road.
I didn't see the game because I was watching my football team eventually get beat, but from what I was reading on this internet, North Carolina has a lot of work to do if they are to repeat as champs. I know there are four starters inheriting a national championship; an it's now time to take this title more seriously. NC won only by 11 over Valpo, after leading by eight at the half and then eventually by 24 points midway through the second half. From what I read here, they didn't look good at all tonight, and I guess they would admit it themselves that they lacked intensity all day. In a NO EXCUSE game like this one, effort is a MUST. If this was someone like our next opponent Ohio State, they get their asses beat. And starting Thursday, we will see what they are made of when they get Ohio State, and then either Cal or Syracuse on Friday. No more silly mistakes, no more turnovers, and pick up the intensity or Roy Williams will jump down your throat. Need I remind you that after Gardner-Webb and Nevada, there are three top-ten teams waiting: Michigan State, at Kentucky and at Texas (in Dallas). I know North Carolina is replacing four starters; but they CANNOT play like this and expect to win. There's NO EXCUSE for this lack of intensity. In other words, they were FLAT tonight.

Now that NC got their hands on Harrison Barnes, let's just concentrate on the season. We got one more game before we go off to NY. Valparaiso is in town, and this should be another NO EXCUSE game, but do not take Valpo lightly, and don't let this be the TRAP game with Ohio State coming up Thursday, and Cal or Syracuse on Friday.
I know it's preseason, but we gotta give some credit to D-II LeMoye College. They pulled a MAJOR HARD NUTZ win at #25 Syracuse, their next door neighbors. I would say minor hard nutz win because it was a preseason game. Also Dook G Nolan Smith, OUT two games because he took part in an UNSANCTIONED basketball game.
You can say the run for a repeat title begins when the preseason polls come out. Well, it is OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats go to Kansas, who is #1 in both AP and coaches' preseason polls. In the Coaches' Poll, #2 is Michigan State, followed by Texas, North Carolina and Kentucky. In the AP Poll, #2 is Michigan State, followed by Texas, Kentucky and Villanova. North Carolina is sixth. So according to the schedule NC's got, we could be looking at at least three top five or top six games, and they are the Kentucky game at their house, Michigan State at our house, and Texas in Dallas. Let's hope they happen, because looking at the rankings, and the schedule, NC is going to be heavily challenged as the defending University of National Champs.

Today is October 15. That's a BIG day in the sports world--at least around these parts. We are so far concerned about that oval-shaped ball right now, but we as Tarheelnation do have something to defend--starting today. This is the first day of college basketball practice, which means this is the first day of the Heel's run to DO THE DAMN THING AGAIN--this time in Indianapolis. After a successful run to Detroit and the title back in April, it's time to do it again and get another belt (or trophy) like the one we are defending this year.

THE UNC 2009-10 SCHEDULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Tarheelnation, hope you get a good look at the 2009-10 defending national champs schedule. In it you will find Florida Intl. will play at the University of National Champions as scheduled. That's right, Isiah Thomas will have to bend over and take it up the ass like the punk that he is. Anyway, the rest of the schedule includes games against Ohio State, the rematch with Michigan State, at Kentucky, and a visit to the new Cowboys stadium for Texas. The mid-term is at our house with Dook on Feb. 10, and the final at theirs is March 6. Those BASTARDS from Maryland and Boston College, we visit both of them this year. And I think we got a score to settle with those BC BASTARDS. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to seeing Kentucky get back to where they belong; I'm also looking forward to Michigan State making another run at a title, and let's see how UConn and Louisville will do this year. This is gonna be an interesting year for NC, now that TH is gone; but Roy will get those boys ready to defend their title. What a great basketball year this was, first the Heels, then the Lakers.
